Subjects at the RPJAM

The possible main subjects are guitar, bass, vocals, keyboard instruments (keyboard and piano), drums / percussion and saxophone / transverse flute. The students only have to take the entrance examination for the main subjects.

The teaching of the material takes place in small groups. Apart from that, private lessons are a firm component of the curriculum.

The minor subject is not relevant for the entrance examination. According to the background knowledge, it is possible to learn a completely new instrument or complete your minor subject to professionality. You are free to choose your minor subject, yet one of the instruments, either first or second field, has to be a so-called harmony instrument (piano / keyboard or guitar).

Music theory is about the transmission of musical connections and theoretical knowledge.

In the ear training lessons, the analytic listening to music is taught. Learn to recognise song structure and harmonic changes, being able to transcribe heard songs as well as, among others, the analysis of intervals.

As an important prop for eartraining you're learning to define intervals, chords and changes via singing.

In our "Live-On-Stage" class the learned material of the various main subjects is applied practically in ensembles and bands. Under professional management of a band coach a live programme is originated with which you not only fill the rehearsal room with sound, but you also play in „free hunting-ground“ of public appearances.

For 3 semesters this cours is a fixed part of each main study instrument. From recording to mastering here we get into details. We think, that recording knowledge nowadays is a "must have" regarding a professional music education.

Particularly in the third year of the education this is an elementary topic of the education. Construction of own teaching concept with curricula and a suitable repertoire. With which learning types in children and adults do we deal today? In these lessons you will learn all that you need to know for you giving your own lessons.

In practically orientated situations, instrumental lessons in all their facets are played through.

In the Economical class, we grant an insight into the basics of the personnel management, business finance and economy of information. Furthermore, the class is about the principles of accounting and the profitability resulting from it.

This classcourse is about the common approach to the subject of Jazz. Chords, sheets and concepts of improvisation are considered together.

This class is the direct preparation for your final project. Above all, this concerns your CD production and the implementation with your band. Together with the lecturer you will work on your composition, arrangement and the piecemeal realisation into your finished song.

Account procedures of the GEMA, GVL, social insurance, how do these processes work? As a musician the small "one-man-self-empoyed-company" is demanded at many different levels. Calculations, billing, tax returns etc. In this class you learn how to do it.

How do I present myself and my band in social networks or on my homepage? How do I generate gigs, contacts and so forth? This is, together with the music business itself, an increasingly important area of active musicians.
